Sirs,
Since I'm given to understand that the Blackbird is your joint project, I wanted to run a few concepts past you after today's ride. Among them being Tempest-level shielding for the onboard electronics so that a lightning strike won't do more than raise people's hair. I'm thinking a cleaner, more efficient fuel that'll weigh 30% less. I'm envisioning a hard-air frictionless drag reduction system that'll boost engine efficiency to about 350%. I'm picturing variable-tension flight surfaces and adaptable angle-of-attack vectoring.
And that's just what I came up with on the ride back. My preliminary notes are under the shared drive under "Bird_001" through "Bird_008". Password is "Yeager".

The internals all talk to each other over the fiberoptics, which is great - although I have a design that could really increase the throughput. The actual peripherals, however? Can't get away from them being actual electrons-on-wire. From what I could deduce, the strike knocked out the control linkage to the ailerons, resulting in an unstable yaw rotation. Ms. Monroe was able to generate enough lift - which isn't very efficient with the current wing configuration, although the maneuverability is top-notch.
Take your time, I have nothing else on my calendar this summer except for an independent project with Mr. Dayspring that has no end date.
