So, after a day of phone calls and a couple of brief outings to Salem Center, I have the following info on our guest. Late, considering the enormous feline that was released from its bag this morning in the form of Terry, but information is a good thing to have. I'll leave it up to the team leaders and Charle to decide what ought to be shared with the school as a whole - given the rumours that are already flying, it might help to have more (or less) news out there.

Tommy Jones, student at one of the local schools, parents connected with the local FOH chapter. No indication of any violence or criminal acts officially for any of the Joneses. I spoke to his summer school teacher and when she contacted his parents regarding his absence from class Monday and yesterday, that he had 'run away from home' over the weekend, leaving a note and everything. According to the official line, he'd been hiding the fact he was a mutant from everyone and 'couldn't stand the dishonesty any more'. Local police are apparently looking for him, but my guess is that a month or so down the track they'll file him as an official missing person and let him fall through the cracks. Covers them nicely - even if Tommy had been found by someone else, they could brush off the assault as one of those things that happens to runaway mutant kids. Considering he was last seen being led away by the local police, I'd say we have 'official' confirmation that the local force are actively anti-mutant.

Moving Tommy in his current condition is impossible. And should his condition improve, I believe he will be extremely vulnerable to further attack should he be transferred to another hospital. The beating was pretty... thorough, and as we've now gotten proof of, the local authorities are not only not going to help, they're probably going to actively seek to shut him up. The mansion has the security and the advanced medical facilities to keep Tommy alive. And while I've spoken to Fred Duncan about Tommy, I don't think the Bureau is going to be able to help in this case.

The difficulty in involving the Bureau is, considering Tommy's alleged involvement with various incidents in town, he's not a good witness, even if he would give evidence of what happened to him (it's a given that no-one's been able to ask his opinion of the whole matter). Apart from the fact he'd be giving evidence against police officers who probably have impeccable services records, any deal would almost certainly involve jail time for his own actions, and he's way too vulnerable for that - he'd be a target for both FOH and mutant inmates alike, and I doubt there'd be a lot done to aid him. And while I don't condone any anti-mutant actions he may or may not have done (and we don't have any actual facts, yet, just Terry's reaction to him), he certainly doesn't deserve what would effectively be a death sentence. So we'll have to go about bringing the issue of the local police to light in other ways.

As for Tommy himself... his condition is still unchanged. I suspect he's going to be in a coma for some time, given the amount of trauma his body suffered and the fact he's been unconscious for almost five days now. We'll keep him monitored, and let you know if anything changes. Should he wake up, well, that'll be the time to debate on what happens next. But I think I can speak for all of the medlab staff when I say he's not going anywhere right now, regardless of the feelings of the student body. I'll be speaking to the medlab helpers again in light of the new developments to make sure they're still fine with things - I know Clarice is Terry's roomie and might have difficulties with things.
