Nathan's subconscious may be a fair bit smarter than he is - I would say this had just occured to me, but now that I think about it it may not really be news to any of us. Regardless, his post about his dream has got me thinking, particularly in relation to something Manuel mentioned earlier. I'm starting to think this new weirdness in his brain may be related to the Askani, somehow, although I've no idea how. The whole thing sounds crazy but, given this is Nate we're talking about, does it sound like the right sort of crazy or do I need to be spending even more of my hours off shift sleeping? Or both?

There's definitely a correlation between the EEG weirdness and the headaches - I've been going over those results you got while he was down here, Jean, and the spikes are similar. More peaks with the headaches, which indicates a deterioration. I think maybe we ought to review his medication, see if that's not making things worse instead of better.
As for the Askani... Our data from when he arrived, pre-Askani, isn't that complete, so it won't really help with comparisons. And surely the Askani themselves would mention to him if there was something wrong?
I'm sure there's something missing here, but damned if I can see it. Too tired, I think. He's not in immediate danger, I suggest we devote full attention to this once we get Haroun out of danger? Beyond the medication review, obviously.
Maddie.

Date: 2005-09-22 11:18 am (UTC)As for whether or not the Askani would mention something, I'm sure they would if they knew what the problem was but... well, they're psionic entities, not biochemical ones. Psionically, Nathan's been recovering very well since the confrontation with Pete, and the problems we're seeing are alll physical ones. There's also something going on with the Askani. I don't think I can be more specific - I haven't had much time to devote to my training with them recently, and it's not the sort of thing that there are really words to encompass. But something is happening. For one thing, some of them are... dying is an odd way to say it, but I don't think I prefer Manuel's melodramatic "passing beyond" line. Leaving. Some of them are leaving.
But, I don't know, that may not have anything to do with this at all.
