When I was talking to Mr. Summers--oh, and congrats to both of you sneaky people, by the way, in case I haven't said it yet--about training, he said he got out of the whole embarrassing peer-awarded codename thing on account of being in charge right from the start. Is that actually true, or did he have one that maybe he didn't know about? :) Or would answering that question violate spousal privilege?

Subject: Well, it was a different time.
For the most part we just picked our own code names and got down to work, and there was the added side issue that it's never a good idea to call someone 'Lighting Bug' if they will, in fact, bug you with lightning bolts. He had a couple of nicknames, but never any embarrassing code names I can recall.
And I'd tell you some of the nicknames, but I don't think you want to hear what Ororo and I used to call him. I do occasionally try to avoid scaring you kids. Sometimes.
Congratulations, by the way, Jamie, for joining training. I think you'll be an excellent member of the team if you do decide to go through with it even after all the reading.

Although, okay, granted, the idea of calling Ms. Munroe "Lightning Bug" does fill me with a certain creeping unease.

So, there was this run in with an obnoxious, drunken college student in the city who tried to pick a fight and when Scott wouldn't sink to his level he started referring to him as "Mr. Tight Ass". Scott didn't much care, but I suspect there would have been some... concern if he'd known that Ororo and I called him "Mr. Tight Buns" for most of a year when he wasn't around.
And yes, I would avoid reminding Ororo of that nickname if I were you. It would probably be unhealthy for both of us.
