I convinced him that a few visits from you would save him the embarrassment of Cain breaking the door down when the professor senses he's skirting the edge of starvation.

As for safe topics of conversation, um . . . at this point it may be safer to just knock and leave the tray outside the door.

And do not, under any circumstances, ask about the situation with Jean.

...I see. I'm a bit concerned that he'll still pick Cain breaking down the door but we'll try it your way first.

I honestly don't understand what's going on anymore, if I ever did. Of course, I'm 23 and have never had so much as a date. Then again, incidents like this don't exactly provide good incentive. I've worked too hard on preserving my sanity to subject it to Love.

Nervous breakdowns don't usually pause to consider when and where would be most convenient, unfortunately. At least nothing's on fire.
