Hey Moira,
Greetings from Jolly Old England. For all of a few days more - we're heading back to the land of the crazy people. Actually, it looks like I'll be in New York for a bit. Pete and Remy are plotting something and my curiosity's up so I'm sticking around for a bit to make sure they don't get into trouble. Everything worked out fine here, everyone's safe and well and I've got something of a puzzle for you.
Remember those tests we did with my power and your collection of magical doodads? And how I couldn't really sense anything from them more than the general low-level atmospherics I get from everything? You figured it was 'cause my power's been too mangled to pick up the small stuff and maybe I'd be able to feel something with a bigger source. Well, I was at one of England's mystical hotspots, a place called Pendle Hill. Long story involving Rom, the wrong end of an occult ritual, a Parliamentary Under Secretary and us kicking arse and taking names in suitably brilliant fashion. :) Any way, big old mystic site, on May Day, which is by itself a day of power. You'd think I'd be lit up like a Christmas tree, wouldn't you? Well, this is where the weird comes in - not a bit of it. Again, same thing as at Muir after the first boom, a bit of a charge but not much more than your usual background noise. And here's the kicker - I get back to London and it's like there's a party in my mutation and everyone's invited. I mean, London's old and has more history in its gutter than the States has all together, not to mention a huge concentration of people and it's always been more home to me than most places, but it's never done this before.
So. curious enough to take some time out of the insanity and have a chat or two when I get to NY? I'd come to the school where the machines that go ping are, but... well, yeah. Probably wouldn't go down too well with a whole bunch of people and it's their home, not mine. For all I know I'm still expelled - I wasn't back long enough to sort that out. Any way, I don't want to cause a fuss there and hey, you could always use an afternoon off in the city sometimes with your favourite ex-witch, right?
And yes, I'm doing that thing Angie calls the demon puppy eyes of doom. You can't see it, but I am. Did it work? :)
Otherwise, everything's good here. Rom's back, didn't upset too many people and I got the chance to watch Pete lecturing Rom about getting into things too big for her, which was just priceless. We - the three of us - got some talking done too. It was... about as fun as I expected. :P But yeah, sorted some stuff. Rom even apologised for leaving me to fend for myself. Ha. I'm still angry at the pair of them - well, a lot of people, really - but... I can see why they did what they did. Now if only I can stop feeling guilty over nearly fucking up everything and being the world's biggest idiot. Little steps, I know, like you told me. *wry*
Any way, I should go. I want to fire off notes to Nate and Angelo and let them know I'm in town. Have another of those 'fun' talks, clear the air with Nate, yeah? I know you've been wanting us to for a while now, so I might as well get it done while I'm there. Look after yourself and I hope everyone's okay after the latest round of dramas. No, I don't know which dramas those woud be, but there's always dramas, isn't there? ;)
Love,
Amanda.

Well, we got Rom back and with not too much mess. She's promised not to mess with the government any more, unless it's really important. Or she gets bored. :) We're all fine and even Remy and Pete were impressed by us young 'uns. Seems almost a shame to go back to the nice, safe boring life.
It looks like I'll be in New York for a (not literal) spell. Up for meeting up, maybe having that talk? Next week sometime?
Hope everyone's okay,
A.

Hey Angelo!
Guess who's going to be visiting the Big Apple in the next little while? We should catch up, yeah? If you're not working too hard, that is. ;) I can tell you about my short-lived gig as a spy. *grins*
Ping me and we'll set something up, yeah?
Love,
Amanda.

Date: 2006-05-05 05:29 pm (UTC)Glad to hear Romany's all right and the rest of you are fine. Occasionally the 'exciting' stuff manages not to be horrible and traumatic. Very rarely, but it happens.
Next week should work. I'm a bit tied up for the rest of this week - doing the lawyer thing, believe it or not. I'll let you know once that's all done.
