Emails to Cain, Amanda, Sofia

Subject: temporary bachelorhood
Moira's off to Muir tomorrow, and she's taking the munchkin - apparently my inability to change diapers with one hand and no telekinesis makes me an unfit temporary single parent. Hah.
You feel like hitting Harry's tomorrow night, maybe? I've been a little too cooped up lately, but I'm not allowed to drive until the concussion symptoms are gone, according to the nasty redhead (not the one I married).

I was really hoping to be able to get out to meet you for lunch this week - I'm feeling a lot better - but apparently I'm not permitted to drive until I stop seeing double. Imagine that.
I don't know, any chance of you coming down for dinner some night? One-handed or not, I can still cook. And Moira and Rachel are going to be on Muir, so...

Do I get to call you a coffee buddy when we've had coffee all of once? Perhaps I'm presuming.
I know we were going to do it again soonish, but as I'm sure you've gathered I've had an eventful few weeks. Can we consider it a standing invitation? For once I can drive again?

Sure thing. You missed a great afternoon today, I have to tell you. I think we can officially classify Marie as "good people" now. Girl holds her own as well in Harry's as she does in the Danger Room. Did a bit of testing today - offhand, I'd say she's up there with Rasputin when it comes to raw power. Definitely ought to see if Summers and Ororo can't make more use of that in the field.

Dinner sounds good. There's only so much cheesy toast you can eat. ;) Things have been pretty busy here with the follow-up from San Diego and some other stuff.
Any day but Wednesday's good for me - whatever works for you.

Subject: Cheesy toast?
Date: 2006-07-17 02:37 am (UTC)But probably not at the meal in question, if it's going to be dinner. Since it's more of a breakfast food. Tuesday, maybe? Gives me enough time to make puppy-dog eyes at someone to take me out to the grocery store if need be, although I imagine Moira has a) stocked the cupboards and b) given strict instructions to the kitchen for her absence.

PS: You didn't admire my capital letters. For shame!
Subject: It's better than takeout?
Date: 2006-07-17 02:54 am (UTC)And no, never really covered that. *grins* My cooking's of the Really Basic sort - scrambled eggs and pasta and cheesy toast and that sort of thing. Plus there's been a few nights where time sort of got away from me. *wry*
Tuesday's good. Send me a list of what you need and I can pick it up for you on the way? Unless it's going to need a lot of prep time? (I do make a decent kitchen hand if you need help with chopping things up...)

Subject: less concussed, yes...
Date: 2006-07-17 03:49 am (UTC)Well, you know, to hell with it being a breakfast food. What do I need... a nice loaf of crusty bread, a big block of aged cheddar (something English, preferably, none of the American crap). I've got the spices and the eggs here, and I imagine I can find the beer in Cain's fridge.
Minimal prep time, too. This'll be good.

Subject: Yay for less concussion!
Date: 2006-07-17 04:07 am (UTC)*makes a list* Right then, that I can do. Ad would this work better with decent English beer? 'Cause Pete's shown me where he buys his. ;)

Date: 2006-07-17 04:15 am (UTC)Eleven days since the tsunami. Six since I burned out the virus. You're right, I'm being impatient. It's still irritating, though. Lots and lots of irritating.
Anyway, I will see you on Tuesday for a cooking lesson and dinner. Sneak attack headache has make its approach so I should probably get off the computer.

Date: 2006-07-24 12:40 am (UTC)Let me know when you're up and about; if it takes too long I'll have to very politely borrow a car without asking and surprise you.
