Ms. M already knows about this, but I figured I'd keep her in the loop given Mr. S is under the weather.
Any way, I'm suggesting starting up Pete's old Saturday run into New York for the kids once the hols finish end of August, and I figured it'd be a good idea to talk about the sort of security issues it might involve. Especially with it being kidnapping season again by the looks.
I can drop by the mansion some time after work - let me know what's best with you lot?

Hey there,
I've already gotten the go ahead from Mr. S and I'll be sorting out security stuff with the people in the know, but I'm thinking come September and the new term I'll take over Pete's old Saturday mini-van trip into New York for the kids. They need a chance to get away and take a break and we all remember what it's like to not have a licence.
What I was thinking was work is sometimes going to get in the way and I wouldn't want to let them down by being in ArseEnd, Middle of Nowhere. What do you think of helping out, maybe spreading the word among the more responsible types, set up some sort of back up system?
Let me know what you think,
A.

While my suggestion for microchipping everyone got nixed (silly medical concerns about the effect of subdermal GPS/RFID transmitters on mutant nervous systems...), one of the ideas I've come up with besides the new mobile phone design is a subtle passive tracker that can be sewn into the school jackets or any other clothing. Doesn't give off any kind of radio signal, which is important given the actions of folks like the guys who nabbed Mr. Summers and had him ditch his phone and communicator.
But the main thing I'm learning from Remy and Pete's august tutelage is that the primary aspect to security is the human element. Safety in numbers, et cetera.
I'll see what I can do about getting you entered into the system's threat database. If you want to bring your car by, I'll check it out as well.

Date: 2006-08-03 04:22 am (UTC)Numbers is something else I was considering. Buddy system, as wanky as it sounds, that sort of thing. And no-one goes anywhere without letting me know where they'll be. Won't stop the odd little bugger from trying it on, but it's hard to play a player as they say. I know all the local pubs and clubs that don't check ID that well, for example.
I'd probably end up using one of the school vans given the car I use is this tiny little hatchback thing that seems to pack a lot of books and all and not much in the way of people. But I can bring it 'round so you can put it on the books, not a problem. Just let me know when you're up for doing lunch or coffee or something else equally business-wank.

Looks like a good idea to me, but I'm a bit distracted at the moment. Remind me again when you get the security clearance stuff worked out? I'd been thinking of trying to start up some kind of trips for the kids, so just keep me in the loop, I do want to be involved.
