I do not wish to sound overly alarmed, but as I noted you leaving last night but did not see you return until this morning, I cannot help but be a little concerned. It was slightly worrisome at the time, and I am glad that you are back. Of course, you are free to come and go as you please, I only wished to check to see that you were all right.

So... are you? If you need to talk, you know where to find me.

Oh, I'm perfectly all right. Really. Finding out that Bobby and Terry got married when they were in Las Vegas didn't have any bearing at all on why I decided I needed out of the mansion for the night.

I see... that is interesting. I hesitate to ask how you found out, as I have not heard this news anywhere else (not even from Sean). Because of this I assume this information is to stay between us, and not to find its way to any other potentially-interested parties.

Logistics aside, if you would like to talk about what is upsetting you, I hope that you know I am here to listen. I am nowhere near an expert on relationships, but I do know it helps to vent, sometimes.

Oh, no, don't hesitate. I'll tell you. I found out when they came to me to ask for a suite together. Since they are after all man and wife... but wait, no, that's not why they asked. I had to notice Bobby's wedding ring and ask before they confessed to me that they'd accidentally got married in Vegas.

Of course, that doesn't matter. They have a true, lifelong committment to each other. Come what may.

Oh, Scott. I am sure they wanted you to be thrilled for them, but truly... sometimes I wonder at what age one is supposed to learn tact and forethought. We do not have to give them a suite together. Especially if they continue on in this manner.

I'm sure it's a very funny story. I didn't ask.

I think we should. We have or have had other couples around the same age cohabitating. We have plenty of extra rooms, so when their relationship goes down in flames again, whether temporarily or permanently, there's lots of room for one to move out.

Hell, 'Ro, I don't know. I could have been a petty bastard and told them no, I suppose. Part of me wanted to, after I found out. Another part of me wanted to say something horrible about how far they've come in six months, but then neither of them would have spoken to me again. Certain things must remain swept under the carpet, after all.

I nearly did something very stupid last night, after I left.

Someone had to be the adult in that situation. I am glad it was you, even if neither of them are students anymore. I am sorry you were put into that situation, though.

Whatever happens with them will happen. Maybe that sounds fatalistic, but I honestly can't bring myself to care. This whole thing is just so unrealistic on their parts that personally, I'm still half-expecting to find out it was all a practical joke on me.

Well, she had red hair, blue eyes - thankfully, or the similarity would have been a little frightening - long legs, and was doing her almighty best to pick me up. I blew her off and drove out to the shore instead. Just sat and watched the sun come up.

Somehow I do not think either Bobby or Terry have a cruel enough sense of humor to make it a joke on you. I am more inclined to think it was youthful thoughtlessness and the giddiness of the new situation, that is all.

I am glad to hear you did not do anything you regret - we must always be on watch to keep our emotions in check in cases such as this. I understand that you felt the need to leave for a time, but please, know that I am always here for you. And always worrying, when you disappear without notice.

What's sad is that I imagine they'll look back on this in ten years as "that extraordinarily stupid thing we did when we were young and dumb". Young love shouldn't pretend to be something that it's not. Then you get something like my marriage.

Somehow I think that it is unfair to blame yourself for circumstances that were outside both your and Jean's control. Thinking you could have predicted the types of obstacles you encountered is very nearly insane, not to mention foolish. I am sure you have been told this before, but you should not believe it is all your fault. Or Jean's.

Sometimes there is no one to blame.

Perhaps I ought to deal with Terry and Bobby from now on. If you wish, I will email them tonight and start making room arrangements with Dani.

It is getting late, but there is still a little sun left in the day. The west garden is still lit, I believe, if you wanted to seek out the sun.

I sound like I'm really working myself into a depressed stew, don't I? I'm not, I promise. I mean, I think I'll still take your advice and go enjoy the last of the sunlight, but you don't have to worry about me drowning myself in the lake.

I just miss her. And I'm lonely, I guess. I could fill up some of these empty hours with more work, but we all know what happens when I do that.
