I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but Remy's been less of a ray of sunshine than usual lately. And part of that is him thinking the only thing that matters to people is the Gambit part. So, I've been trying to think of something to get him out of that, and Mark gave me a brilliant idea. Well, hopefully brilliant.
Birthdays are about being a person, right? About being with your mates and celebrating being you. But Remy doesn't know when his birthday is. No-one does. But two years ago, this Sunday coming up (that's the 8th), Remy beat out the monster he was made into and became the sarcastic bastard we all know and love. So, here was the idea. Next Sunday, party at the brownstone, sort of a birthday bash for him. Us lot from the Center, and whatever friends he has at the mansion - Cain, Ms. Munroe, I figured you'd be good for that?
So, horrible idea or not? And if not, help? I've never done anything like this before and don't have the first idea how to go about throwing a party for someone.

It has very much been noticed. And I think this is a wonderful idea. Date of his physical birth aside, the Remy we know was born on that day, no?
I think that a party can be put together quickly without a great deal of panic. We have a location, we just need food, and guests, and possibly music.
Also, many somethings to drink, ignoring any note that most of us should not be able to go purchase it.
Food should be easy. If nothing else, we now have a carryout menu for ever restaurant in nine blocks, and many of them cater. And I believe Doug is on a first-name basis with half the owners.
PS. Mark, if you even think about playing Panic at the Disco over the office intercom system, I will send a giant-size imp after you and your coffee.
PPS. No hats. No ugly pointy hats at all. Remy will just charge them and use them for darts if we have ugly pointy hats.

Half?
Try three quarters. ;-)
I'll handle the food.

Seventy-five percent now? That is a lot.
If we let you handle the foot, most of it will be too hot for anyone except you and Remy to eat so I think a food committee is in order. Hot spices do not need to be in all the food.
... Do you think if we maybe spoke to Tante, she might send something home-cooking for Remy, or maybe a recipie that we could get a caterer to make?

Food committee? I'm crushed. I can be trusted. I mean, I know that hot spices shouldn't be in all the food.
There's birthday cake.

Date: 2006-10-04 12:43 am (UTC)I think this sounds like a wonderful idea. I would be happy to speak with people at the mansion and invite them, as well as do anything else I can to help. Would it be acceptable if I brought flowers in lieu of any real decorating?
Remy is lucky to have a friend like you. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

Date: 2006-10-04 01:00 am (UTC)Marie-Ange, Marie, you two good with being the organising people? Food, the rest of it? I'm there for any grunt work etc, but like I said, I have no clue what I'm doing. Team up with Ms. Munroe for the decorations, put the expenses on Pete's account? Flowers sound good.
Mark, strangely enough, you're music bloke. Remy's not terribly picky on account of having not in the much of likes and dislikes. I think as long as we avoid country music, we're good. ;)
Booze I think I can handle. Well, me and the fake ID. *grins* Someone want to come down to the off-licence with me this week?
Again, thanks everyone. Remy'll appreciate the effort, I hope.

I think a entirely inappropiate cake is entirely appropiate here.
Plus also perhaps a regular cake in case no one wants to eat one of the horrible ones.

Tell me, is it too devious and mean to send Doug for the inappropiate cake? Because I have one of those little shoulder devils saying that it would be funny.

I am very fine with organizing. And while I tease Doug about his tastes in food, they are perhaps, most likely to coincide with Remy's.
Or, perhaps Doug can just find where Remy most often orders out from. Doug, can you do that? Is that possible?

Well, since 'cold, heartless bitch' would only be adding one adjective to my collection... I'll bring a card, perhaps.
