I'm thinking you probably guessed this already, although both on the professional and personal level I figured you ought to be told - I just informed the team.

I know it looks like we just welcomed a member of the Brotherhood into the mansion, and technically we did. But the reason Pietro had a falling out with Magneto and is looking for refuge here is that his father found out he's been working against him for the last several years. In fact, he's been providing us with information on a semi-regular basis. One piece that was particularly valuable was where to find you and Lorna.

He's been on the run since San Diego, and was apparently waiting to let the heat die down before approaching us. Obviously this is a security risk, even after four months. I'm not sure how much, but - and this is coming from the Professor, too - we need to try and figure out a way to work with that risk. We owe Pietro a lot. He's said he'll leave if he thinks he's putting the school in danger, which God knows I appreciate, but I'm hoping that's not going to be necessary.

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that Pietro Maximoff has been a mole for the X-Men inside Magneto's Brotherhood for years. And that he was instrumental in helping you guys find Lorna and I down in Florida.

For that, I suppose I should probably owe him one. But given that the fastest man on the planet took his sweet time, and stood by and let Magneto do all those things, force Lorna to do all those things - I can't even think of him without wanting to see horrible things done to him for just standing by and allowing his father to do the things he's done.

Not just to me and Lorna, but folks like Julio. Like trying to kidnap Alison's son. Like every single terrorist act that Erik Lehnsherr has been involved in for years, he let it happen. I'm sure he "did all that he could".

He might not have been a willing accomplice, and he may not have any blood on his hands, but as far as I'm concerned, it isn't enough. I trust you and the Professor - I know that he wouldn't be allowed here if there was any chance this was a trap or a ruse.

But this is a man who sat by while people were hurt, tortured, and killed. I can't imagine how he's able to sleep at night if he's got anything remotely resembling a conscience.
