So maybe it's the fever, but what's with the shoes?
(And yes, this means I have my laptop. Jean's not as much of a grouch as she likes to let on.)

The shoes. The shoes are a long story. It involved throwing. And a crazy rabid fan who wanted Mark. And then there were shoes all over the store, so I bought them to try and make the sales clerks not blacklist Mark and I from going to every shoe store in the area.
But seriously...you should not have your laptop. You should be spending your time resting and recovering. Do I need to check that you are not wearing yourself out? I think dunking yourself in a river was enough.

Well. You know, I need to meet this Mark kid at some point. Anyone who gets you into situations where you have to throw shoes is probably worth knowing.
And I did not dunk myself in a river. Or happen to go for a swim. My entry into the river was entirely out of my control, I'll have you know.

Ask Moira what her shoe size is and see if she has any requests once she finishes the lovely chat I know you two are going to have when she arrives.
How do you go for an out of control dip in a river in Russia? And then not get checked for symptoms after?

Oh, she's already here. We've had the chat. She forgave me (mostly) when she realized that I had my little incident, slept for about twenty hours, and then woke up too sick to think straight. Under those conditions, when you have a still-lingering phobia about doctors and illness you're forgiven certain lapses.
If you promise not to spread it around, I'll tell you how I wound up in the river.

I am just surprised that you are still in possession of your laptop (and other things) after a visit from your wife. I do understand not wanting to go to the doctor unless completely necessary - I only went for my checkup at the urging of others.
I would hope you know that I am able to be discrete when asked.

My wife is a wonderfully forgiving woman, have I mentioned that? And the laptop was by way of a deal/bribe - I can have it, so long as I don't actually work. (Seriously speaking, they know I need distraction when I'm stuck in certain places, so that I don't start climbing the walls. Especially when I'm feverish and likely to start imagining the walls are uncomfortably white.)
As for what happened - well, someone threw a bridge at me. And I caught it, actually, go me, it's just that I wasn't expecting it to be that heavy.

You are a very lucky man. But if you are not actually working, I cannot complain. Especially since the thought of you climbing the walls is scary as I believe you would physically do it.
Do I want to know what lead up to this situation?

I'm being good. I wouldn't put it past Moira to come check the cache on the laptop in the morning, and as I may be here until Friday night, best not to push it.
Well, that much I probably shouldn't get into in detail. (Although come to think of it, I should email someone else about this...) Suffice to say someone was getting away, so we chased him. And then he threw a bridge at us, and sadly ducking wasn't an option.
It was a very energetic evening.

Well, then you had best get back to resting. I would hate to get you in trouble.
And I do not know that I want to know the details. Or why you could not duck. I am glad you were not harmed more than a little illness that you will hopefully recover from quickly.

I'll be fine, Medusa, seriously. Although I possibly should send the email I should have sent earlier and log off, as I am developing something of a headache. Nothing to do with our conversation - you're right, I ought to be resting.
If I don't see you before you head off for the weekend (as I probably won't), have a good trip.
