Surprising news, at any rate. It seems I'm almost certainly going to stay here indefinitely; Summers offered me a spot on his team, after Kansas City, and I'm oddly inclined to accept. I'll keep trying not to get blown up, though; that's definitely still my priority.

How is Attilan reacting to the bombings? I hope there's been no credible threat to your home or people.

With regard to your first note--very funny, milady. Good thing I can outrun most explosions, isn't it?

Did I say that I was joking? I do not recall making any attempts at incorporating humor into my e-mail.

Given the fact that there have been explosions recently, it is probably best to avoid joking about such matters. Yes, these people must be stopped and taken into custody.. and who will do the actual act of capturing? More than likely, the X-Men will be involved. Now, you will be with them, possibly needing to outrace an explosion to avoid being blown up.

"Most" is not the same as "all."

It is my understanding that certain alternate dimensions are especially nice this time of year.

Something can still be funny even if it isn't intended as a joke. I can just see you sitting there on the phone arranging for your own abduction while you flip through Narnian real estate listings.

In any case, I'm not likely to be directly involved in bringing the current group of homicidal twits to justice--I assume you've seen the footage by now. There are still a few things I need to settle before I give Summers my final decision.

I have reached a frightening conclusion: everyone in the world is clearly insane. Everyone here at the mansion, everyone in the rest of the world... all of them are insane.

This is a mutant group, and they appear to truly believe that what they are doing is beneficial to mutants. No. What they are doing is not the answer and it is not helpful to anyone.

Also, you forgot possession. The abduction will not count if I do not get possessed.

No, no, I thought of that. You see, the house you eventually purchase in Narnia will be haunted, and the former owner will take over your body and force you to wear nothing but long pants, heavy sweaters, and overcoats. Forever.

I wish it were more of a comfort that I'm nearly certain my father is in no way involved with this group. On the one hand, they aren't as dangerous as they might be. On the other, how many more people like this are out there?

That's one of the reasons I'm considering Summers' offer, you know. The X-Men would give me a chance to help cut that number down a bit.

Possession usually entails a "going evil" aspect. Therefore, when this happens, I will go insane from being forced to wear such uncomfortable and confining items of clothing, at which point I convince the former house owner to allow me to leave Narnia for an hour. I will find you and you will become possessed instead of me and you will then be forced to walk everywhere. Slowly. No faster than a snail. Forever.

I am afraid to know how many more people like these exist. Unfortunately, they are the mutants most humans decide to pay attention to, and that is how we are all seen in their eyes. What they are doing is... well, you already know all of this.

I know. I know they help. I also know that being insane is a requirement for joining. If someone does not meet this requirement beforehand, newly gained insanity is sure to follow very soon. It is the way of the X-Men.

By coming up with that scenario you have clearly proven that you already have the "going evil" aspect of the whole affair well in hand, and can therefore skip the possession entirely.

What they are doing is attempting to prove their superiority; all they are achieving is demonstrating that they are superior barbarians. If we truly are humanity's evolutionary successor, we have it in us to supplant them with dignity and respect, honoring their achievements as we mourn their passing. We should be as the grandchild at the deathbed, not the mugger in the alleyway. And I'm going preachy again, but all this foolish waste makes me so angry.

You do remember what my recent work history looks like, yes? If there's any question about my qualifications, it's certainly not due to lack of insanity.

Pietro,

I have been at Xavier's for eight months. It was bound to happen at some point. Besides, this is only a potential "going evil" scenario that will only take place I am forced to wear heavy clothing, something that will only happen if I am possessed by someone in an alternate dimension, and this will only occur if you are blown up while on a mission with the X-Men. You mentioned needing to avoid being blown up. Therefore, you started it.

I agree. There is no reason to harm people, no reason to attempt to make things happen faster than they should. The world is not ready for it yet; attempting to force the inevitable to occur now rather than later will not make the world a better place for either humans or mutants.

A few years working with the Brotherhood, a few years remaining with them while in contact with the X-Men... I would venture to say you need to take a break from insanity, a break from working with people who are insane. However, to the credit of the people here, at least the insanity of those whe save the world while wearing black leather is acknowledged by those who are insane and they are fairly open about it. I do understand, though. You were able to help people by providing the X-Men with valuable information. You want to help people now, and joining the X-Men is a good way to be able to do this.

However, if you do end up getting caught in an explosion, the scenario mentioned above will happen. Have fun with your new teammates.
