Subject: About Illyana

So, I offer Illyana Rasputin a job the other week, and I've been meaning to drop you a line about that. She tells me that she's currently on course to fail high school, and while she's got a pretty good excuse, that's something I want to get sorted out. Since most of the kids here are fitting in study around their jobs, I figure we can probably make arrangements for Illyana, too, although in her case, I'll bend over backwards to make sure that studying comes first barring honest to god life and death situations, at least until she's got some kind of high school qualification. I'll leave decisions about further education past that up her, but I was hoping I could enlist your aid in working out the best way of her finishing high school.

I feel slightly awkward - while I've hired Xavier's alumni, this is the first (and I hope only) time where I've felt that it'd do more good to offer someone still at school a job - it seems (and given her background, it's not surprising) that she's willing to shove school work into second place, so I think she might benefit from an environment where that tendency is, if not encouraged, but allowed a certain expression, and where there are more people with the right kind of expertise that she can bring any of her more unusual extra-curricular problems to.

Fuck, it looks like all those books Frost got me when I took your job years ago did stick.

Also, if any demons do make an attempt on her, my staff are probably as well equipped as anyone on the planet it to deal with that.

Please kill me.

Pete

Thanks, I've been meaning to contact you, too, though since half the student body was excused from class yesterday on account of being attacked by dinosaurs we'll probably have to chalk that one up to 'unavoidable delay'. I haven't hit the level of your signature block yet, but there was a point Saturday night I was actually praying for a home invasion on the off chance I might take some violent head-trauma to knock a few days out of my brain.

Charles has been discussing the school angle with Ororo and Scott; special-arrangements, definitely, although that was sort of a given, I guess, since the student in question is only supposed to be about half her actual age. At least teleportation relieves the commute problems. That and the potential demon invasion part aside (and thanks for covering that angle, because I think our only anti-demon device right now is, um . . . Cain) my biggest concern is actually her social development. This being the fact that it looks like she's got none.

Okay, that may be a leap since the kid's been pretty consistant about not being in the same room with me for more than five minutes for the entire year I've been here, but there's some pretty strong evidence. Like that huge part of her file about spending half of her formative years in hell. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say a strong background in tentacles is probably a good hiring recommendation for Snow Valley, but someday hopefully there could be that "normal life" option that nobody actually takes, but needs to at least be asked about. Like whether or not she can even see one, for a start.

Anyway. Thank you guys for taking her on, partly because I think the high-weirdness factor may actually be less stressful for Illyana, but jesus christ. What did you people do to Sofia?
