Angelo,
I realize you're her boyfriend, and nobody would expect you to be exactly objective about Amanda on a purely personal level. Still, while Jennie could stand to hold her temper better, Amanda was the one who started dropping insults -- so her behavior was not only just as inappropriate, but unprovoked.
Yet you decided the thing to do was to object to Jennie's behavior only, and in public, and to bring the X-Men into it.
Granted, of the people Amanda answers to, I can't think of any who would mind her insulting Jennie, so maybe there'd be no equivalent "threat." But it seems to me that if you were just taking sides yourself, personally, there'd be no need to mention Scott. Whereas, if you were thinking that as an X-Man, Jennie should be held to higher standards, then it seems you could have contacted her about that concern in private.
I realize you're certainly not obligated to answer to me. Still, I usually think of you as reasonable, and not as choosing to be deliberately unfair. So I'm left wondering: do you honestly think Amanda was less in the wrong than Jennie? And do you think your response was a good one?

Date: 2008-02-24 03:57 pm (UTC)Personally, I'd say the fact that Amanda started casually flinging insults for no reason at least balances out Jennie's bringing you up. If you were going to scold only one side in public, you should have kept it to your own opinion. If you were going to treat it as something other people should disapprove of, you should have been more objective.
I don't expect you to apologize to Jennie or say anything disapproving to Amanda. Nor do I expect Jennie to apologize to you, or Amanda to her. But I think all of those would be a good idea.

Date: 2008-02-25 10:53 am (UTC)No, it does not balance out Jennie bringing me up. I hadn't said or done a damn thing to Jennie in that thread (or anywhere else, about her being a dog) and she had no right to drag me into it, especially not with what she actually said.
And considering I didn't say anything overly rude to her, no, I'm not going to apologize.
