Hey, Kyle. I know it's been a little crazy around here for the last couple of days, but I wanted to see how you were doing after Friday's post about Mr. Marko. If you want to talk about it, I'm available.

I'm up to my eyeballs in guest-people needing new light bulbs and having to replace a couple of keys but nobody's broke anything and I'm praying nobody does until I get a handle on this thing. I need to sit down with, I dunno, the Professor or you or both or something, I got sort of an idea for some of it but I think there's gonna be paperwork or something and dude, I got NO IDEA how to do that.
What the -hell- happened? I mean, dude, it's Mr. Marko. This is HIS house, he says so all the time, why the hell would he just leave and give me his job?

Don't worry about paperwork -- I'm sure the professor has a system by now, and probably a contact list of people to call for any services you can't provide yourself.
As for Mr. Marko, there were a couple of reasons, but the one I can tell you with certainty is that he decided it was time to move on. There was no falling out, no anger, nothing like that. He's been through a lot, and part of a lot more -- I think he just decided it was time to give living his own life a try.
I know getting a letter rather than an actual goodbye probably seemed cold, but I don't think there was anything personal about it. He didn't want to make a big deal about leaving, and anyway, I don't think he was ever that comfortable with big emotional displays. He decided to leave on a high note, and the only way he could bring himself to say goodbye was to say it without actually saying it, if that makes sense.

I was looking at seeing if I could do what Mr. Marko did and pick up a helper or two. Specifically, the letter he sent said to let Yvette do firewood and stuff and I was thinking of seeing if she wanted a couple hours a week job - mostly dealing with the trees and shrubs and firewood and stuff. I don't have enough hours for some of this - I'm gonna have 12 or 15 credits every semester. But I dunno how to handle paychecks and stuff, since she's on a student visa.
So he's okay, right? I mean, he's not hurt or anything? I dunno how a guy like that could get hurt but I was kinda worried about it, cause I couldn't figure out why else he would've left.

Helpers and delegation probably aren't a bad idea, and this is a big place. You might ask people like Callie and Ms. Monroe if they'd like to help with landscaping and other grounds maintenance, too -- people who already have experience in this area. I think the professor should be all right sorting out the visas and such. He's had enough practice.
And yes, Mr. Marko's okay -- there's definitely no coverup of a heinous injury, and I can personally attest to the fact he walked out of here fully upright and under his own power.

Delegation is on my list. I'm pretty sure noone's gonna let me delegate like Mr. Marko did - sitting in a chair with a beer telling me what the hell to do, but it's on the list. I have so many goddamn lists right now.
Also I'm pretty sure Yvette could use something with her powers that is productive and stuff - and the paycheck won't hurt either.
Okay. I'm still confused but if he's okay, then I guess I don't have to worry or anything.

Welcome to responsibility . . .
And yeah, you're probably right about Mr. Marko's style of delegation. You probably shouldn't try that until you're old enough to actually buy beer.

This whole responsible adult thing is totally over-rated. I'm gonna go take a nap with my cat now and then watch cartoons.
Beer kinda smells weird anyway. A lot of alcohol smells kinda weird. Not all of it, but yeah.
