Mr. Beaubier,
So I hope you're having a great time on your vacation. Dad and I explored NYC a bit so that was fun. He's leaving today, so I'm back at the mansion. So can I still use your room? Apparently Monkey Joe attacked someone and well I'd rather not be in my room with him right now.

Callie,
Despite a temporary eviction from Muir, I am enjoying my trip tremendously. The bookshop in the village on the mainland may have something to do with this; as soon as Nathan turns his back I plan to get lost in it.
I am glad to hear that your vacation was enjoyable, though rather disappointed that you have not approached Doreen on your own to resolve the vermin issue. I have not had an opportunity to speak to her face-to-face as of yet, but she seems like a pleasant enough girl. More importantly, she is still new to the school and I worry that she may take your continued avoidance of her pet as a rejection of her, either for reasons of her personality or her appearance. Even if you decide that you are not compatible as roommates, that would be kinder than possibly leaving her to wonder. I do understand that this isn't the easiest task for you, but try to take some heart -- Doreen did clarify that Monkey Joe's assault on Marius was a misunderstanding and that he is not normally an aggressive creature.
If you still require the use of my room, you may do so until I return, but I would urge you to at least talk to Doreen before then. There are enough miscommunications at the school without adding to their number.
Best,
Jean-Paul Beaubier
PS: If there is not a brownie held in reserve for me, I am going to be very put out.
