(1/2) Not a cape....it was too long. A mask and a wig. And a jacket. I stopped some crimes. And then I caught couple of guys trying to beat a guy up so I tried to stop him and Namor found me first. Then it got worse.
(1/2) I did it so they wouldn't know who I was. Then Namor totally revealed my secret identity...in like 2 seconds. He's a jerk. But he almost got shot trying to help so now I feel bad. Still a jerk, though. :(
(2/2) I'm mad, and I think the professor's disappointed, and Mr. Haller was all...quiet and disappointed too. And...this sucks. A lot.
(1/2) I know. :( Mr. Haller told me that I could get people hurt thinking I'm a kid and trying to help. And I'm not a kid. I'm a teenager. I'm a teenager now. So yeah.
(2/2) What kind of story? It needs to be a teenager story. Because we're teenagers.

So. It's not a very interesting or fun story. But it is about a teenager who tried to help.
Her name was Sunshine and she lived in a time of great turmoil. One day, one of her friends got kidnapped and she felt like the adults weren't doing anything to save her.
So Sunshine, believing that she was strong enough, sneaked out to look for the bad guys herself because she desperately wanted to save her friend. But she screwed up and got herself captured by the bad guys too.
Her parents came to rescue her, but ended up getting killed to save her.
So you see, Molls. Sometimes wanting to help doesn't always have the intended outcome. Other people can get hurt too. I'm not saying you can't help, but maybe the way you were doing it was slightly wrong-ish, y'know? Cause you're unsquishable, but other people aren't. With great power comes great responsibility, Molly. There are consequences to stuff. If Fish-dude had died, trust me that it'll suck 500,000,000 times more than it does now.
The good news is that Sunshine eventually trained up and learned from the adults how to help people while protecting other good people as well. She became really good at it and people stopped treating her like a kid because she became an adult too. Even though she was still a teenager.
You can too, Squirt. You just gotta... I dunno. Look at it from a different perspective. Adults screw up all the time. So do teenagers. Most likely, your adults are trying to protect you from the screwing up and regretting part. I don't think they can protect you forever, but you gotta learn not to resent that because they're trying to help you.
I think it's awesome that you're trying to help. And your costume/armour was probably totally kickass. But I'm not in a position to allow or disallow you doing stuff, especially since people think I'm a kid too. So I can only say this: Helping people isn't as easy as you think it is. But if you train hard and learn how to do it... Well, they can't say forever that you don't know what you're doing if they're the ones training you how to do stuff.
Think about it. You're old enough to understand this. If you want hugs, girl scout cookies and a hat catalogue, I'm in my room eating ice cream.

O_O. You're right, that was not a fun story. :( That was you, right?
Mr. Haller told me all these things too. People could get hurt if I try to help. I get it now. So I'm gonna stop doing it. Things are gonna attack us no matter what, cause that's what happens. I'll just let the adults save the day.
I think I'm gonna stay in my room and read, thank you though.

I ain't saying nothing. Sunshine was Sunshine. I'm a crappy storyteller apparently.
Anyhow. You're missing the point. People MAY get hurt if you run into a situation half-cocked. The solution to which would be for you to run into a situation fully prepared for it. Is all I'm saying. Ehhh. But what do I know? :p
That's fine. Let me know when you wanna talk or something?
To: Rachel Kinross From: Molly Hayes Subject: RE: Too long for texting
Doesn't that usually mean it is if someone gets all neutral?
I don't do that, though! Cause being a superhero is super important. I train, a lot. Everyday (well...sometimes I skip a day if there's a test in class I need to study for). When they teach us how to fight and use our powers I listen. When things attack me I fight them and I stop them.
But I don't want my parents or Matt or Mr. Angelo or Mary Angie or Wademan or anyone to get killed cause of me. So...I'm just gonna let the adults handle it from now on like you and Mr. Haller asked me to. I promise.
I don't know what to say. :( I just want to be mad. I feel like no one listens to me cause they think I'm too young.
To: Molly Hayes From: Rachel Kinross Subject: RE: Too long for texting
All right, fine, Smartypants. You got me. I'm that idiot they called Sunshine. It's a stupid nickname anyway.
And that is not what I'm asking you to do. I'm not asking you to do anything except think about it. You were totally a superhero to me anyways. It's just that situational awareness isn't something anyone can pick up by paying attention in class. And superheros are allowed backup, y'know? I'd be your backup in a heartbeat. Robin to your Batgirl and all that if you wanted me.
That said, you actually get to be mad, Molls. So be mad. I hear your frustration. What or who are you going to be mad at? What do you want? And if no one listens to you because they're too busy listening to themselves protecting you, I'll do my best to listen. My hair's partially green because I listened to you and I regret nothing.
Come to think of it, were you trying to be Riveter?

Date: 2014-06-15 04:21 am (UTC)(2/6) Which is cool and all. I can respect that. I bet you would've kicked ass too.
(3/6) But the adults are freaking out because you're a kid and they don't think you should've been in such a dangerous situation.
(4/6) Or, you know, put someone else in such a dangerous situation.
(5/6) Which is also fair. But clearly they don't understand where you're coming from. And you don't get them either. So.
(6/6) I dunno. I could tell you a story?

I like it. It's nice. Like when Wademan calls me Halfpint.
It doesn't matter, though. I can't be a superhero anymore.
No, she wasn't real. The evil man made her up. She killed people. I'm trying to be me. I don't know who I'm mad at. I want to help.
I'm sorry but I'm mad again and I need to go read now.
