Paige,
When you return I would like to see you in my office. (For the record, no, I am not doing anything drastic like removing you from working with me. Not only would that simply not work, I dislike the idea of punishing myself by removing my assistant.) I think it's obvious what I wish to discuss, but there's also a few other things as well.

This may be long.

I wish for you to take a cource on ethics. Obviously, it's a little too late in the semester for you to pick up Charles'. I also wish to speak to him about another ethics course, so there may be one open next semester.
We live in extraordinary conditions where sometimes the black and the white are doused liberally in grey. What seems right to one may not to another. Legally you didn't do anything wrong. Ethically depends on who you ask. The record keeping, in itself, is not necessarily wrong.
Keeping it to yourself was. I hold two PhD's and am acutely aware of the fact that one of the most precious things I hold at times, since I am not an MD, is my patients trust. The X-Men and the trainees are not your patients, but they are people who you need to trust and who need to trust you.
The medical files were, obviously, untouched. Which, probably, would be the only reason I would ask you to step down.
When it comes down to it, you messed up, Paige. I believe you misjudged people's reactions and did not think things through as clearly as you believed. Even genisus have bad days and make mistakes.
As much as it sounds as a lecture, I'm not here to lecture you. I believe you've gotten enough of that.
Now, on to the other matter.
Once things have calmed down in the MedLab, I'm heading to Muir for a weekend. If you're free, I would appreciate it if you came with me. I want you to meet the rest of the staff and get a more hands on _at_ Muir. One of the days I'll probably dump you in a lab when I find myself embroiled in meetings.
Think you can make it?
Oh and when you get back, could you stop by anyway? You need to pick up your bloody paycheck.

If you're sure... yes. I can make it.
But. Paycheck? Um. what?

Date: 2005-09-24 03:31 am (UTC)Sometimes we hide things so deep from ourselves that it really will only take outside help to find those reasons. Your on a hard road right now but you'll pull out alright, I've got faith in you.
Good, then Dr. Connors can leave me alone every time I call about when I'm bringing you over. I'll have to be careful he doesn't try to steal you away.
When I asked you to become my assistant, I meant it. While there are volunteers at Muir (due to programs or what not), I heavily believe in paying those that work for me. You've got the access to the labs at Muir and the facilities like any other staffer. Part time, of course, since you do do other things.
So, yes, paycheck.

Would it be possible for you to just directly route my paychecks to my family in Kentucky? I'll pay for the stamps and all, or whatever it takes.
