. . . But I'm going to Kosovo with Yvette Saturday to help her get back in touch with her mother, and I was wondering if you could come with us. I don't have anywhere near the fine control with my TK to do gentle manipulation or swing anything that tight a personal forcefield, and in spite of the stuff Forge was able to put together if we run into a situation where physical contact is called for there's a limit to what I can do. Also, even if Yvette herself were completely all right with the prospect of traveling alone with a strange man, which I'm not altogether sure she is, I think her mother would be a little more at ease if there was a woman chaperoning.
I've already asked the professer -- he says that arrangement would be fine. Kind of suggested it, actually. It would only be for a few days until we make sure there are no problems and she's settled in, so you wouldn't be missing much in the way of class. And Yvette said she'd appreciate the extra company.
I don't know if you speak Albanian (I sure can't), but if you're all right with telepathy the language barrier won't be a huge issue.

I don't know if I'm the best person for this. Right now...well, things aren't so good with me right now. And if the professor suggested this, I'm guessing someone has been talking. I...you know, I guess it might be a good idea for me to get out of here for a couple days. I could use a break. And Yvette is really sweet, I'm going to miss seeing her around. She's just one of those really good kids, y'know? So I guess that's my long winded version of saying yes, with the warning that I may not be the most cheerful traveling companion.
I don't speak Albanian, but I'm ok with a little telepathic help. I was about to say that my mind can be confusing, since there's more than just me in it, but I guess that's something you of all people would understand.

It's okay, I actually have a pretty good grasp on minimal degrees of contact and immersion. I have to be or the crazy kind of leaks. Since usually I'm trying to fix people's that's a little counter-productive. I definitely respect the need to keep things as separate as possible.
The sad thing is, ours are not the weirdest brains out there.
I'm glad you're coming. Don't worry about filling awkward silences or anything. Odds are I'm probably doing pretty well at that all by myself.
Probably we shouldn't mention any of this to Yvette's mother, huh?
